Things To Do In Colorado Springs A Scenic Adventure

THINGS TO DO IN COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs is not actually in the mountains. So the type of land you’ll see here is more like a dessert and dry terrain. You can expect rocks, red dirt and little to no trees.

When you come, you can expect to see the mountains. You are going to see the best view all day long and all year long, but you’re not going to be in the mountains.

Yet we are going to discover some of the most fun things to do the next time you visit Colorado Springs.

Seven Falls

The first place we are going to talk about is a place called Seven Falls. We would say this is probably our favorite place on the list. It is a park, and you do have to pay an entrance fee of $14.

Once you get in there, you get to see a series of seven different waterfalls, and they all lead up to one colossal waterfall that you can go to the top two by climbing these stairs.

These stairs are incredibly intense. There are 224 of them. They are very steep, but the view from the top is so worth it. It is gorgeous.

Colorado has a bunch of waterfalls. There’s so many different waterfalls that you can hike to. What is cool about this one, in particular, is that it is very family-friendly.

First of all, it’s all paved. The whole walk to the waterfall is completely paved, which makes it very easy for anyone to do it.

Then once you get up there, you can find a bunch of stairs that you have to climb, but they also have an elevator that you can take. Thus you don’t have to be super fit and active to go and enjoy this beautiful waterfall.

So we thought it was cool because we’ve been on a lot of different heights you do have to work your ass off to get to a waterfall.

This one is easy for anyone to go. And since it is so touristy, they also have things like a gift shop, restaurant, souvenir stands, and little things like that where you can enjoy and make it a whole day for the entire family.

Garden of Gods

The second place we want to talk about is called the Garden Of Gods. If you ever googled Colorado, we’re sure you have seen a picture of this place because it is pretty famous.

It is again a touristy area but 110% worth going to. It is gorgeous; basically, it’s a part of rocks just sprouting up from the ground.

They’re huge. They’re like orange rocks. The number one thing people love about this place is that it is entirely free. You don’t have to pay to park. You don’t have to pay an entrance fee. You don’t need to pay for anything. You can go up there, park the car, and walk around.

It is awesome because not many places are free. There are not a lot of hikes that you can go on entirely for free. So this one you have to check it out.

Since it’s touristy like we mentioned earlier, it’s another one of those just easy walks. The whole trail to the park is paved.

So it’s easy for both children and the elderly to do. Just take a nice stroll to this park and get some fantastic views. It is one of Trip Advisor’s most top-rated things in Colorado.

The Incline

Next place is called The Incline. This place is not for everyone. Basically, it is a set of stairs that goes directly straight up to a mountain, and when we mean straight up, we mean straight up. You truly are at an incline.

There are ridiculously over 2,000 stairs for you to go up and get to the top. Once you’re at the top, the views are absolutely gorgeous.

It is so beautiful, but honestly, we would say the purpose of going there is really for the act of going up the stairs and to be able to say that you did it.

It’s probably one of the hardest things you will ever do. We did not see one person up there that wasn’t panting and dying going up the stairs.

But once you get to the top, it’s completely worth it. It’s just one of those things that you can say that you did.

Pikes Peak

It is also known as America’s mountain because that song America the Beautiful is written about it. Apparently, the writer was at the top, and from the view of the top, she was inspired to write America the Beautiful.

You can hike up this mountain, but it is very intense. However, you can drive there because that’s what most people do.

Getting in there does cost some money about $23 per person. They charge you per person even if you are all driving in the same car, so it is a little bit pricey. We think the reason is just that it is so famous but a cool drive nonetheless.

You drive up the mountain. Then once you get to the three-mile mark or three miles from the top you have to park your car, get out, and then a shuttle will take you up to the very top.

The reason why they do this shuttles is that the roads are so curvy and you’re literally on the side of the effing mountain.

Once you get to the top, it is stunning. You can see for miles and miles. It’s great to take pictures. They have a little gift shop and restaurant up there.

Caves of the Winds

This place is the definition of a tourist trap. They have so many things that you can do there, which makes it fun but it does cost some money to be here.

Basically, you pay to go through a guided tour through this cave that’s inside of a mountain which is so cool especially if you’ve never done something like that before.

We love things like this because we know some people like to have a tour guide. Someone that we can ask questions to get information. It’s a learning experience. You get to walk through and learn all about the history of the cave; the history of how it was founded, etc.

After you’re done with the tour, they have places outside the cave for the kids to play, like obstacle courses, mini rock-climbing wall, and zip line.

The tickets cost about $21 to go through the tour. If you go online, they have a thing called a happy hour, or a thing called early risers. For happy hour, the tickets go down to $18 per adult.

Also, you can get cheaper tickets; they have an early riser sale which is about $16, which requires you to go early in the morning.

Cheyenne Zoo

This place is worth mentioning. It does not compare to any zoo anywhere. It is clean. They have interesting animals. A lot of animals that you might never see before are found here.

It’s one of those zoos where you can feed the giraffes. They come right up to you. The animals eat right out of your hand.

Breweries

Colorado is known for its amazing breweries. Macro brews or microbrews they have it all. Our two favorites are New Belgium brewery and Fort Collins brewery, which is famous for its Fat Tire beer and they also have a great sour beer.

Then down in Durango, you also have ska brewery with crazy coconut curry beers. Each one has a lot of great beers and offers a unique experience make sure to check them out

Stanley Marketplace

It is a recently new addition to the city. It’s an all airport hangar that was transformed to have lots of very interesting local stores and restaurants.

It’s a fun place to grab a bite a beer or to do some souvenir shopping.

Estes Park

Just a short drive from Denver, this town is actually known to be the base of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
It’s another great place to go hiking and take beautiful pictures.

Route 550

Source: enterprise.com

The route has no guardrail. It is known for being one of the most dangerous roads in America but with the proper precautions. It’s also a very beautiful route.

You’ll find old school towns like Silverton and arrayed that look straight out of a movie, making it an adventure worth considering.
